Abstract
                                              
Translating methods are undoubtedly the core problems we are confronted with in translation. There are many kinds of translating methods: literal translation, free translation, transliteration and the synthesis of literal translation and free translation and so on. Among these methods, literal translation and free translation are the two main translating methods which are commonly adopted by us. Literal translation is to preserve the contents and the form of the source language in accordance with the cultural tradition. While free translation is just to preserve the contents and the main language functions, having to give up the literal meaning of the source language because of some cultural and social limitations.
